Hayle beach extends from the estuary, along the East side of the bay, and finishes at Godrevy. The lighthouse on Godrevy Island is a famous local landmark and was the inspiration for Virginia Wolf's novel 'To the Lighthouse'. The beach at Gwithian - just before Godrevy - is a great surfing beach and at low tide, is often used by kite flyers. There are dozens of rock-pools at Godrevy - one of which is more than large enough to snorkle in! The estuary at Hayle is the favoured location for the latest sport of Kite Surfing - amazing to watch! Despite it's popularity, the beach is never crowded - you can always choose your own peaceful haven.
